CROSS-CITY ALLIANCES
While based in New York City, CEI-PEA has fostered alliances with schools and school systems across the country and around the world. Among the projects that CEI-PEA has led are:
- In fall 2004, CEI-PEA was awarded a grant from the United States Department of Education to help large urban school systems from across the country generate systems of public school choice and increase compliance with the No Child Left Behind Act. The goals of the initiative are to help improve teaching and learning, increase student outcomes and provide quality educational options for students and parents. Through this initiative, we have worked with school and system leaders in New York City, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Paterson (New Jersey), New Orleans and Columbus (Ohio).
- Over the past four years, CEI-PEA has worked with the Moriah Fund and the Israeli Minister of Education to establish quality public schools for Ethiopian immigrants to Israel. In Fall 2006, a new school opened in Rechovot and has quickly become a model for replication throughout Israel.
- Over the past decade, CEI-PEA has worked with educators in Chile to replicate the highly successful Wildcat Academy, a “second chance” school for students who have previously left the school system.
In addition to these projects, CEI-PEA has worked with schools in Baltimore, Boston, Washington, DC, and Chicago, as well as Argentina and Great Britain.
